I am here at the Ribbit Spring Spawn, learning about the Ribbit Flex Component.

Ribbit advertises themselves as Silicon Valley's first phone company. They have developed a Flex Component that allows you build a full featured VOIP featured Phone into any web site.

The event kicked off with Ted Patrick of Adobe, giving his Flex 101 talk. Then we dove into the code. Flex / Actionscript is a pleasure to use.

Why am I here???

Imagine being able to make and receive telephone calls, listen to and READ voice mail from your FileMaker applications. Well, with some help from the MBS plug-in, we can do just that. This opens up some pretty useful telephony functionality to FileMaker applications. We are experimenting with building a Flex/FileMaker component that can do such things as:

• run FileMaker script when a call comes in
• have the script use the caller ID info to find the contact in a FileMAker database
• and then present the contact info in a FileMaker Window

That would be pretty cool!
